The thematic focus areas through to 2027 are: human rights and democracy, federalism and human rights, multiple discrimination, and the outsourcing of responsibility in the field of human rights. The strategic process also brought to light the SHRI’s institutional objectives looking ahead to 2035.

In addition to these thematic priorities, the SHRI took position on current political and legal developments in Switzerland, through the lens of human rights: motions relating to children and asylum, and the implications of the “Klimaseniorinnen” case before the European Court of Human Rights.

The recruitment of the Secretariat was completed in December 2024, with the formation of the Research and Consulting team. With the full team in place as of early 2025 and the addition of a new member to the Committee, both the Committee and the Secretariat are now fully operational.

From a financial standpoint, 2024 was the first full accounting year for the SHRI. However, as the Institution is still in an intensive development phase, the finances for this year remain exceptional –just as they were in 2023.
